Teen Counselling Service in Cork and Kinsale

Teen Counselling needs a different approach

My Teen Counselling Service in Cork provides a safe place for teenagers to explore their often confusing thoughts, feelings and emotions.

Like adults, at times teenagers can feel stressed, overwhelmed, depressed, and anxious. In addition to the emotions adults encounter, teenagers may experience further unique challenges due to being a teenager – such as finding their identity, peer pressure, challenges of puberty, bullying and exam stress. Feelings like these can become difficult for a teenager to manager, and they may begin interfering with his or her wellbeing, behaviour, relationships and general enjoyment of life.

This is where the teen counselling service in Cork can help.

My Teen Counselling Service provides a safe place for teenagers to explore their often confusing thoughts, feelings and emotions. My approach centers on fostering a strong therapeutic relationship and building trust in me as their counsellor who cares and can help, in themselves and their potential and the process of counselling itself. I believe that given time to trust and to begin to explore and understand their problems, that teenagers naturally become empowered to create significant positive changes in their lives.

Teen Counselling can help with a range of issues including:

  • Drug and Alcohol Issues
  • Anger
  • Anxiety & Stress
  • Depression
  • Low Self Esteem
  • Bullying
  • Behavioural Problems
  • Relationship Difficulties
  • Family issues
  • Bereavement or Loss
  • Sexuality Identity
  • Abuse

How I work

In working with any teenager I strongly support the involvement of their parent(s) or guardian(s) where appropriate. Initially I meet or speak on the phone with you before meeting with the young person. Ideally, this allows you to meet me personally, see the therapy room and give you a chance to understand fully how the service works. This is a no cost and no obligation 30-minute introduction to see if my service suits your son’s or daughter’s particular needs.

The next step would be for the young person to meet me and if they feel ready to attend for a number of therapy sessions. After 6-8 sessions I will again meet with you to discuss what, if any, further intervention is required. In some cases joint sessions between the young person and other family members may be appropriate.

If you wish to begin this process please contact me.
