I am passionate about working with people in supporting them to rediscover their happiness. I believe in uncovering the person you are, knowing that inviting meaningful positive change is a gentle journey of taking away the obstacles rather than adding anything new to who you are now.
Approach
My style of Counselling is an Integrative Humanistic approach, which prioritizes meeting you where you are uniquely in your life journey. My approach strongly emphasizes working with emotional trauma (long-term and one off incidences) to support the organic healing processes of the body and the nervous system. I draw from a variety of methodologies including Gestalt, Object relations, Internal Family systems, Attachment, Childhood/ Developmental Trauma, Shock trauma and crisis intervention. I am trained in the body-orientated/ somatic therapy of EMDR (Eye movement desensitization and reprogramming) and Somatic Experiencing practitioner). I am passionate about being creative in how we support your healing and I have recently Completed a certification in Somatic Movement (A very gentle floor-based guided practice to regulate your nervous system). Where appropriate, I use mindful approaches in our work which invite you to begin to make regular contact with the present moment rather than ruminating on past failures or future worries. This has been proven to help with issues of stress, anxiety and depression. I am presently training long-term in the Hakomi Method (Mindfulness-based body psychotherapy).
Irrespective of our approach to the work or your life situation, you will be respected and appreciated for the person that you are right now. Whatever you are going through or have been through, I am here to listen, understand, empathize and support you.
